Administrative unlock of locked desktop
I administer a computer lab where users occasionally lock their desktop (or it is automatically locked by screensaver) and forget to unlock it. In Windows XP, we could unlock by entering an administrative account name and password, and the user's session would be logged out. I don't see a way to do that in Windows Vista. Note that we have removed the"Switch user" option via Group policy, since we do not want that functionality enabled on these systems. I wish that the power off / restart option button that is present on the main login screen were also present on the lock screen. That would meet our needs very nicely. Can anyone suggest a solution?
