Admin user can't write to shared USB drive with full control permission setup
Windows 7 Ultimate. I shared the USB drive which allowed only Admin (user of Administrator group) to access with password protection. The permission of the access was set to "Full Control". The problem is: when access from other computer (XP system), I can log in with Admin username and be able to read/execute files. But when try to write/change the files in the shared USB drive through network, "Access Denied" error. If log in to Windows 7 (the machine itself). no problem for the Admin user.

Please change the NTLM authentication level. Please refer the following website. Network security: LAN Manager authentication level The policy is: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Please change “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”. If your system is Windows 7 Home Premium, you may change it from Registry. 1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.2. Find the following branch. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3. Create a DWORD key under Lsa and set: Name: LmCompatibilityLevel Value: 1 4. Restart. Arthur Xie - MSFT

I got it to work by specifying a user or by setting permissions to everyone. It doesn't make sense that by simply part of the admin group you don't have full control. It seems to me they should of had a few more RCs with all the problems everyone is running into
