Admin Username and domain are gone
I tried to add an addiotnal username to my computer a couple of days ago and now I have lost my admin user account. I try to sign into windows and it is a brand new account. I cant make any changes because I am not in the admini account. I obviously screwed up something when trying to add another user. I must have changed the domain path and lost the way into my user account. What should I do? All my documents, pictures, email etc are in my admin user account.I originally bought this computer when I worked at a real estate compnay. They set-up my login and i am the only user. Do I need to contact a professional and pay to have my system restored? My computer is working and this didnt happen out of no where....I clearly screwed it up...PLEASE HELP!!!1 person got this answerI do too

I have a similar problem. But I do not have access to Admin account at all. Actually I was only using Admin account, no other one existed. I created an account, restarted and then only the new account is available. I cannot have access to the Admin account with the new account. So I lost access to everything Admin owns. This is really bad. I'm, really desperate.. many things I need to get are on the Admin desktop. What can I do? Thanks Bernard Lessard

You probably should have started a new question for you problem. Many potential answerers will not look in an answered thread. You do not need to worry. The built-in administrator account will normally be hidden once a user is created. It can still be accessed by either starting up in Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly at startup) or by pressing Alt-Ctrl-Del twice when the normal login screen comes up and then log in as Administrator. Probably the best recovery from this situation is to create a new user and copy the profile of the administrator to this new user. Simply pretend that your old administrator account is corrupt (even though you can't see it) and follow the same steps as in the article I quoted earlier:"How to recover the damaged user profile in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555473 >If you look, you will probably find your old desktop files in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop.HTH, JW
