Admin Password
I screwed up. I was trying to get Windows 7 to come out of standby and boot directly into Media Center without stopping at the log on screen. I read somewhere that if the OS has more than one account or at one time the default user account had a password enabled, then it would stop at the log in screen and someone would have to press the enter button on the remote. So stupid me, I deleted my account which had admin rights and now all I'm left with is a standard user account. The Administrator account is still hidden, and from what I have read, does not have a password. So my question is, can I unhide the admin account and login, and then recreate my account with administrator credentials? I read where you can boot the install DVD and get to a command prompt, and then do a regedit and unhide the administrator account. If so can I then login to that account by just hitting enter on a blank password field? If not, can I reinstall and save my "documents" directory?

Perform a safe boot, which will enable the administrator account for one use. It should have a blank password. Hi Jimmy If there are no Administrator accounts left, you can boot into Safe Mode and the built-in administrator account will appear on the login screen, like Biometric said. You can log on with that account, go into Control Panel/User Accounts and create another Administrator account for yourself. Reboot an log on with the new account in normal mode. Once the new administrator account is created, please go to Start, type Power Options in the Start Search box, and then press ENETER. Click Change plan settings, click Change advanced power settings, click Change settings that are currently unavailable. Change Require a password on wakeup to No, and then click OK. This will access the desktop directly without a password after resuming from Standby. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
