Adding Vista to Domain
I get the following error when i try to add my vista ultimate computer to a windows server 2008 rc domain controller: "An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain." I succesfully added my windows xp laptop to the domain but not the vista. The server is fully functional witth no errors on it's side.

Hi, Thank you for the post. Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following points with you: 1. Is the Windows Server 2008 computer the only one Domain Controller in this domain? 2. Is the Windows Server 2008 computer also a DNS Server? 3. How many DNS Servers are there in this domain? Are all of them using Windows system? 4. Which DNS Server is configured to be used on the Windows Vista machine? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Check if the Windows Vista machine can ping the Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller. If it fails, please confirm the network connectivity. 2. Check if the Windows Vista machine can resolve the domain name by using the command nslookup. If it fails, please confirm the DNS setting on the Windows Vista machine and the DNS records on the DNS Server. 3. If the above two steps have been performed successfully, please upload the netsetup.log stored in %systemroot%\Debug\ to the following link for further research:https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=a2360812-78b9-4b15-a420-d47c5ea4cc83Password: Sd^MpbO72dRWdFbJ I look forward to your reply.
