Adding NetFX3 to a WIM file with a french LP

Hi everyone, I am trying to enable NetFX3 on my wim file using DISM of ADK8.1.

This is what I did with my WIM file:

  1. Copy the default WIM of Windows 8.1
  2. Mount the WIM file using DISM.
  3. Add the French LP using DISM
  4. Try to add NetFX3 using DISM:
DISM /enable-feature /featurename netfx3 /image:C:\Mount /all /LimitAccess /Source:C:\Mount

The step stop at 62.6% with an error message saying that I need to specify the source. The error is:

CBS    Failed to gather all required files. [HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING]

I saw something in a post at some place that I need to extract the French LP and add the files to my source folder. I tried but still failed again.

There is no other error message or no event to help more.

Anyone around to clarify what is going on and how to be able to do it.

My goal was to enable NetFX3 during my Task Sequence using ConfigMgr 2012 R2 but I am experiencing the same error.

Thanks for the help and I'll share any logs if required.

I know that it is not recommended to install a feature after a language pack but my question is how could we know exactly which features to add from the start before adding the LP?

Hi,

I know Microsoft recommend to install the language pack before applying any updates. But as you can see you get an error when enabling .Net 3.5

The workaround is to enable .Net 3.5 before applying the language pack. I have done this many times and can confirm that it works fine. The image won't be corrupted.

I suggest you to service your image manually to do this:

1. Mount your image
2. Enable .Net 3.5
3. Add the French LP
4. Add any other updates/drivers
5. Save, Umount
6. Add your image to Configuration Manager
