Addendum to Hammerz
I'm in the same position except that discovery does hold. But my situation is that Vista Ultimate cannot access the files on Windows 7. I'd like to know how to fix this.

Can it see and access Public files on the Win 7 machine? If it can, it is a permissions problem preventing access to other shared folders.Bill

No, it sees nothing. The error I get is "Windows cannot access Client3 [the name of my computer]\Users."
