Add Windows XP Setup to Bootloader
I have successfully added the Windows 7 x64 and x86 Installation to a USB Drive to Install from. But, "Is there a way to place Windows XP Installation files on that USB and load the setup from Windows 7Boot Manageras if it were a normal bootable cd? I want it to be another option in the Windows 7Boot Manager.

Hi,Install a tool Easyboot, then try the following steps:1: keep your XP and Windows 7 Bootable ISO files ready . Remember bootable ISO ok not data ISO 2: open XP ISO with ultraiso and "save boot file" under bootable option of main menu , and save the file to /easyboot/disk1/easyboot . save as XP.bif 3: extract all files to /easyboot/disk1 4: open Windows 7 bootable iso with ultraiso and save boot file to /easyboot/disk1/easyboot Win7.bif 5. extract all the files to disk1 Now use the Easy Boot configuration menu to change the text for 1st entry to Windows XP SP3 and select XP.bif as boot file. Similarly for Windows 7, select Win7.bif Save the ISO and test in any Virtual Machine like Virtual PC, VirtualBox. Note this method will NOT give you Win XP setup.exe on DVD. Only Win7 setup.exe as autorun. This is only the case when you put the DVD in existing version of Windows and it autoruns. When you boot from DVD from BIOS, you will get option for both Windows XP and Windows 7 Setup

Is there a way to do it without a third party boot manager? I am hoping I can do it with the Windows 7 Boot Manager. Is there a way to create a .WIM like that of Windows Vista and Windows 7 Setup for Windows XP Setup?

The Windows Imaging Format (WIM) is a file-based disk image format. It was developed by Microsoft to deploy its latest Windows operating system releases, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, which use it as part of their standard installation procedure. It works equally well with legacy versions of Windows however, and is used as part of Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. WIM does not seem to support operating systems prior to Windows XP.If you do not like thrid party tool, you can manually add Windows XP to the boot loader by following the steps below, be warned though, you may not be able to boot into Windows if this is done incorrectly. Note You can run the commands in the following procedure by using the command prompt. If you run these commands in Windows 7, run them at a command prompt that has elevated user rights. To do this, click Start, click Accessories, right-click the command-prompt shortcut, and then click Run as Administrator. Use Bcdedit.exe to manually create an entry in the BCD Boot.ini file for the earlier version of the Windows operating system. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt.Note In these commands, Drive is the drive where Windows 7 is installed. o Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /create {ntldr} /d "Description for earlier Windows version"Note In this command, Description for earlier Windows version can be any text that you want. For example, Description for earlier Windows version can be "Windows XP" or "Windows Server 2003". o Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /set {ntldr} device partition=x:Note In this command, x: is the drive letter for the active partition. o Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /set {ntldr} path \ntldr o Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /displayorder {ntldr} /addlast

We can capture a Windows XP system into an image. Capture an Image However I do not think you can easily make an installation entry with the *.wim file. Actually you can make a WinPE boot USB drive and put the installations in the drive. Walkthrough: Create a Bootable Windows PE RAM Disk on UFD Although you can put the installations in one drive, you still need to manually configure the boot files if you install dual boot system with Windows Vista/Windows 7 and Windows XP.Arthur Xie - MSFT
