Add Direct Reports as User Attribute to FIM portal

I have created a user binded Direct reports attribute I want to display in the FIM portal in the user profile.

I am having an issue with populating this attribute. I need assistance on how to complete this... I am a novice on sets and workflows and MPR. I know from research it is a combination of the 3, I just am not sure how to actually populate it.

any help is appreciated.

Let me re-question your question:

You have create attribute and binding in FIM Portal. Now you would like to display this attribute in "Edit User" form in FIM Portal?

To do so, you would need to change RCDC (Resource Control Display Configuration).

Here is a quick how to create new one: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/creating-a-custom-rcdc-in-forefront-identity-manager-2010.aspx but in your case, you'll edit existing one, not create new one.

Dominik,

No I can display it in the users profile. I need to populate it. I have set it as a reference attribute and binded it to user, now I just need to figure out how to populate it with the users who have manager listed as the profile being viewed. If that makes sense.

So if Tom is the manager of mary and tim, when I look at Tom's profile I want the direct reports attribute to be populated by mary and tim..

Ok, now I get it.

I am afraid you cannot do it using only FIM Service workflows/sets and MPRs as built-in workflows doesn't let you to assign reference attribute - you would need to either:

1. Import it to metaverse and export to helper database, and (via view) import  direct reports  as a reference back to FIMService/Portal.

2. Create your own activity that would let you to assign reference value.

Thanks, it is a shame... they should have that built in since AD and exchange both can do it.. but oh well. We will skip that for now.

I appreciate the help
