Ad Hoc network & ICS between vista and a psp
Hi everyone,I have a vista (Home 32bit)computer with 3 network adapters (wifi - bluetooth- ethernet cable)and a PSP.I want to connect them without a router! and give the psp internet access.Firstly I have asked around in the psp forums and apart from checking my psp isnt broken (which i know it isn't for defo now) they havn't been much help... My PSP can connect to a wifi network and browse the internet just fine if it has a router, i used to do this until i had to move home, and i have checked it by logging into next door network (asked first of course)so as far as I can tell its not the PSP....As for my computer, its pritty newm I've kept it updated and have av/malware/firewall programs, when i first got it I "optimised" it to boot up faster and get a little more out of it for games, as a result several services have been disabled or put on manuel (at the time didn't have any ill effects). this MIGHT be the problem idk. I have re-enabled some of the sevices so that the wireless auto config worked and similar stuffs... If you know of any that are required to make this work plz let me know. Now for what I've already done...I have gone into Network and Sharing centre -> Setup a connection/network -> Setup Ad hoc -> wizard -> named it PSP to keep it simple with NO KEY so save time atm -> Save network ->At this point it offers to turn on ICS for me but i always try to find the network on my PSP at this time and I CANNOT SEE MY COMPUTER ON THE PSP. I don't know what type of networks the PSP can handle but it has worked on every router I've come accross, so thinking was it would work with this. THIS IS THE FIRST MAIN PROBLEM. Also when i click close its still not there.Even if we presumed it worked at this point, i click ICS and it says, Windows could not setup ICS. So I think to myself lets do it manually - I right click on the ethernet adapter and go properties, Sharing and click share, then select the wireless adapter from the drop down box. When I click OK it says, Cannot enable ICS -(null) I'm not sure if there meant to be an error number there or not just seemed weird.Thats as far as I got :( terrible reallythe thing that gave me the idea in the first place is linked below, a USB network adapter with some PSP software to share your internet, but as i have a built in wireless card wanted to do it myself...http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/4-/3434686/Thrustmaster-PSP-WiFi-USB-Key/Product.htmlSyko

Hi there,I have read the pages you have given me and they DO NOT allow me to do as I wish.... They say ad-hoc is for psp2psp only, which I know, thats why on the psp I use infastrucure mode, and the other say I require a wireless router to connect my psp to the internet which just isnt true, it is the simplest option but not the only option. I CAN connect my psp to the internet via the usb - which SONY say is impossible - Sony says that what I'm attempting to do is impossible, I havnt e-mailed them, but I have read ALL there troubleshooting and manuels on the PSP none of that helpsI say again! I want to make a wireless network ON MY COMPUTER for the psp to connect to the internet. I do NOT HAVE A ROUTER only a usb modem, however my pc has a wireless network adapter that can be used as an AP but my psp DOES NOT detect it.Since my post I discovered that Sony put a command into the official firmware of the psp to stop me doing exactly what I'm attempting to do, however I do not have official firmware anymore thats why I wanted to find out how to do it. The point is that my computer can make an ad hoc network to connect to my m8s laptop (tested - vista to xp worked) but the PSP doesn't find the network. From what I have read and spoke to PSP community about,it turns out that is was possible with the older PSP's but the newer firmware wont let you and no-one has bothered to make a workaround patch yet as every has a router. The problem has nothing to do with windows like I first suspected (although I did have ICS disabled in the services by mistake) the PSP is the problem and so you probably wont be able to help me as there is no solution yet. I've asked in the Dark Alex forums for a patch and they said they will look at if it is possible with the newer firmware for me.So feel free to delete this topic as you wont find me an answer...SiliconSyko
