Active Window problems
When I toggle between windows within Windows 7, I am experiencing the active window I toggle to becoming locked up for 5-10 seconds, it just freezes up. It seems to be getting worse as well. Anytime I switch applications, either by mouse via the taskbar or by using ALT+TAB, this seems to happen. Is this a memory issue? Anyone have insight as to what may be causing this?

What other applications do you have running in the background? Anti-Virus with On-Demand scan maybe? What it might be doing is checking your active window you're giving focus to and subsequently locking it up. Is it getting worse when you open more and more windows?

Definitely gets worse as more apps are running... so I would think Windows is having problems allocating memory??I am running AVG v8.5, I don't think that is causing it, the window doesn't lock up like whenthe window isnot responding, whatever is happening in the window still get processed, I just can't see the changes. When it catches up, whatever I clicked on has finished processing.

Hello mindmuir, which are your specs? Have you checked your free memory available? Any software with issues running?Regards,W7 Beta running on an AMD Semprom 3200+ (1800Mhz) with 2 Gbs of RAM and a built-in Nvidia 6100 VGA, and mate, it runs like a charm! And now on my VAIO FE31M Laptop.

How long have you been experiencing this problem? Has it been since you loaded Windows 7 or is it a relatively new occurrence? Open up Task Manager (or process monitor from Sysinternals) and have it open up to the Performance tab. <alt><tab> or Aero flip, take a look a the graph to see if it spikes when you experience your 5 to 10 second delay. Even better alternative is to use either Resource Monitor or Performance monitor so that you save the resulting captures and investigate what is going on.

Well, first to do is to change windows theme to "windows classic" from the personalization menu. try to use the computer the way you used to and check if the problem is gone. If its gone, then that might concern with the video card memory or the amount of RAM your computer has.
