You should reconsider using a beta for vital school work, especially if your Product Key is failing to activate it. One thing you might try is a System Restore point to before the key failure.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

You should not use a beta product for production work such as school. However, you can rearm Windows 7 up to 5 times if necessary. That will give you five months or so to troubleshoot your activation problem. At an administrative command prompt (right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator), type slmgr rearm. Once you reboot, do a slmgr /dlv. At the bottom, it will show you how many times you canrearm your Windows 7 install. Even if you were fully activated, all of us will have to take some sort of drastic measure come Aug 1, 2009.

I am running the new Windows 7 RC build 7100, x64 bit and running a clean install. When I try to activate it online, I get the same error as the earlier poster. The following information was found for this error: Code: 0x8004FC13 Description: Unavle to find a detailed error description. The facility code is: ITF (0x04) Facility error: 0xFC13 (64531L) Hopefully some of you have any idea why this happens and I cant activate the product. I really dont wanna have to reinstall again.

OCH - You could also try what the OP on this thread did - they activated over the phone...

Yeah, I followed the "activate over the phone" option, but there was absolutely no link to any phone numbers whatsoever, Windows 7 was not possible to choose. The "slmgr rearm " command gave me no usable effect, it just gave me the windows saying "Invalid combination of command parameters". It might have been removed in RC perphaps, while it was still in Beta. However, when I used slmgr for the new serial number, and then ran slmgr /ato it seemed to have activated just fine :) So all in all that solved the problem. Thanks guys.
