Activation code of Windows7
Trying to install Windows7 on a new computer from a disc which I previously used to upgrade my old computer, yields a key activation error! Please help

How to contact a Microsoft Product Activation Center http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929 Contact. Depending upon circumstances you may permitted to activate, although the rule applies: 1 licence = 1 machine and 1 machine = 1 license.

WIN | slui.exe 4 | ENTER Find the number to call. Call. If activation fails, stay on the fon to get a real person. WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

Karl and Rick, What will happen if do format in one PC and install the same OS in another new PC? Do I have to purchase a new license? Your answer is confusing me... Aloysius Jegan

Aloysius Jegan You are only permitted to transfer a Retail license from one computer to another. OEM license such as HP or Dell which are pre-installed on new computer are not permitted to be transferred at all. How and where you FORMAT the hard drive is irrelevant. What is relevant is 1 license = 1 machine; 1 machine = 1 license. In other words, you need a license for EACH machine
