Thanks in advance for the help. I cannot open many windows services I click on them and nothing happens. A few of these include: Uninstall a Program Action Center Sync Center The Action and Sync center seem to be running but i cannot open them. My devices will snc and i will get updates but i can no longer view the settings. For example nothing happens when i right click on the icon and select "Open Action Center" Running win 7 pro and Microsoft Security Essentials i dont think i had any problomes before installing Microsoft Security Essentials but dont know how to uninstall it without "Uninstall a Program" and the timing could be a coincidence.

HiIf your trouble just happened after installing the Microsoft Security Essentials, why not try system restore to fix your issue. If the restore point is not available, we can try the following steps to remove the program. Click Start, type regedit.exe and press enter, find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Security Essentials and delete it. Try to uninstall it again. If the program still failed to be removed, we can try a tool, once installed it, please use it to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials. Then we should be able to remove it. I hope this can help.John John

i successfully uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials and the problem still persists. I ended up using command prompt to uninstall it after i saw the reg uninstall command of /x thank you for the advice. I will probably end up just reinstalling windows as i am getting rather good at it. It will be my 3rd time sence launch. This problem just bothered me as it probably has a simple solution that i just cant think of.

Hi,If system restore has fixed the your issue, you can feel free to reinstall the Microsoft Security Essentials, since it is not the cause of this issue. In the furture, if you face this kind of issue, you cantest your computer in Clean Boot mode to narrow down the cause. You can refer to the following link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135I hope this would help you.John

Now, It's better to perform a In-Place Upgrade to repair your computer. You can refer to the following steps.1. Log on your computer first, insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive. 2. Click Start and choose Computer.3. Please find the "setup.exe" file in the DVD-ROM and double click it.4. Click Install now. 5. When we are prompted to input the product key, please click Next without inputting any key. The setup wizard will prompt and ask if you agree to install Windows Vista without the key. Please choose to confirm.6. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the system files of Windows 7.Note: While performing the In-place Upgrade, the system will restart automatically (several times) to merge the files and programs. Please leave the computer alone and do not configure it until In-place Upgrade is completed. The system will start Windows Vista once it is upgraded. When the In-place Upgrade finishes, please check the original issue again. John
