Account locked out issue
Hello everyone, I am a domain admin in one of the Windows based domain, and I have just 8 months of experience with windows administration. My issue is, my account gets locked out very periodically like for every 5 to 10mins and i keep unlocking it. The thing is I know from which comp its locking my account through events. I have to let you know that I installed MS Sql Server 2008 R2 in those machines and out of lack of knowledge I have used my credentials instead of a consistent domain admin or local admin account because of which I may have been getting locked up as the services are using my old passwords all the time. I have logged into that machines with my latest password but no luck. Uninstalled the software and reinstalled using a local admin account but no luck. If i solve in one machine it starts locking from other machine and this continues to about 10 machines approx. Can anyone suggest me , a way to get rid of this? I have also did this mistake when I installed MS Office in these machines and tried uninstalling it and also re-installing but no luck again. Another interesting fact i found is all these machines which are locking my account has windows 7 professional OS. Am finding it very hard to unlock my account regularly. Please let me know if you need any other details so that I can provide them. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance -Sreekar.

Hi, Does this issue happen with a clean install Windows 7 machine on the domain? Since the issue occurs with multiple machine, I suspect the issue related with GPO or other configuration which cause to lock your administrator account. I suggest to contact Windows Server Forum for further help: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsserver The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding. Leo Huang TechNet Community Support

Thank you very much for your response. This started happening when I did the software installation in brand new laptops and desktops running windows 7 professional sp1. Will this help in anyway? Thank you -Sreekar.
