Accessing the shared resource on the XP from Windows 7
HI
I have two networked computers belonging to the same workgroup: one with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit and the other with Windows XP Pro SP3.
On the XP computer, I shared a folder allowing only the access to the Administrators group.
Now, from Windows 7, I can see this shared folder, but when I try to use it, the no authorization message is displayed.
Why the Login window is not displayed?
THANKS

Important information is missing
1. Have you the same credentials on both computers?
2. Can you access shared resources?
What you can do to test the connection:
A. You can test your access with net use
B. Analyze the connection with network monitor.
C. Force the SMB to one in W 7
D. Do test with firewall disabled.

Hi,
I recommend that you can try as below guide:
1.In XP, open CMD and type secpol.msc
2.Local Policie--->User Rights Assignment
3.At the right window, you can see Deny access to this computer from the network option
4.Double click it and find Guest then delete

In the first image, you'll see the permissions of the shared folder on the XP computer:

2. I can see it but I can't access it.
A. Net use display the XP shared resource but I can't use it.
B. I tried

Hi,
It's take me a long time to test your problem, at last I found the answer.
1.Right click your folder which your want to share---->Share and security---->Permission
2.Remove administrator(in you case is VMTXSP3\Administrator), then click add---> type Everyone

This solution works
but it does not allow me to share and
to full control those directories in which
only a user in the Administrators group can
access.
So, how do I solve this problem?
