Accessing a wireless network with a wired device
This question really has nothing to do with Windows 7. In fact, it has nothing to do with any version of Windows. I ask here because I imagine there are networking experts here. If I need to access a resource elsewhere, just point me to
it. Thanks in advance.
I have a network-enabled Blu-Ray player. The only trouble is, it is wired, not wireless and it's in a room where it's not practical to run an Ethernet cable. I want to connect it to my wireless router so that it can access Internet services like
Netflix, which it could do if it were connected via wire to my router. What piece of hardware do I need to place near the Blu-Ray player that will provide a wired port for the player and connect to the wireless network I have?Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

You're looking for a wireless bridge device, something like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-WET11-Wireless-Ethernet-Bridge/dp/B000066JQU. I've
never used one myself, so I can't say how well they actually work.
And they're not cheap.

A wireless ethernet bridge will work as recommended by Bob. The purpose of this device is to bridge at layer two. It will connect the wired and wireless network so that they are on the same logical subnet.Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Thanks. I also found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320041&cm_re=wireless_bridge-_-33-320-041-_-Product.
It looks like it will work very well without any configuration.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
