Accessing a printer on a Hi-Fi home network
I have a Home Wi-Fi network with a Dell Laser 1230c network colour laser printer connected to my XP computer. Dell is installed as 'shared' and is connected to my Belkin G Wi-Fi router via a network cable. The Dell is fine from the XP computer but on a Windows7 laptop when I try to 'find' a printer via the Wi-Fi network it asked me for the User Name and password - is this a Windows7 problem?1 person needs an answerI do too

Confusing. Your first sentence says that your printer is connected to your XP computer, the second sentence says that it's connected to your router. Assuming that the Dell printer is connected to the router and has its own IP address, the better way to connect to it with your Windows 7 machine is to install it as a TCP/IP printer. To do this, on the Windows 7 machine,Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> "Add a printer" (at top)then select "Add a local printer" -> Create a new port and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" as "Type of Port" -> NextThen enter the IP address of the printer. Continue following install prompts to install the printer. This will give the Windows 7 machine access to the printer independently of the XP machine.HTH, JW
