Accessing Mac OS Server 10.5.8 file server via PPTP VPN share disappears
I have a windows 7 pro. 32bit accessing a Mac OS server 10.5.8 file server via VPN, the VPN service is provided by an SBS Win2k3 SP2 using PPTP. The router in use is a sonicwall TZ series. The VPN portion work well. The odd thing is that I am able to connect to the file server via \\serverip, once I browse into the shared folder and see all the content and then browse back \\serverip the share disappears from the available shares. This is driving me crazy since the problem may lay on Win7 or the router. I will test this using Win XP in order to rule out the router and will post back. If anyone has a clue on what could be the cause, please please let me know. Any hint is welcome.....

Can you access that computer after entering \\computername from the start search box? If so, the computer should be listed after you access it. If you cannot access and it prompts that your access is denied, I suggest you change the default NTLM level in Windows 7. To do so, open gpedit.msc from Start Search box. Then locate to the following policy. Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Please change “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
