Access to private files in Windows7
1. Hi I am just trying to figure out how to allow and restrict access to private files within Windows 7 prof. Let us say there is a group of people. Each has his own private folder which he has access to, but the manager has access to everything including the private files. There is a small domain set up, but I thought the private files should to be stored locally (is it a mistake?) How does the manager get the access to them? Do they need to be put into a shared folder? 2. It is just an theory by now, but when it comes to implementation I would like the thing to work properly. Thx for any ideas :-)

Kind of beats the idea of private? :) The thing is, if you have multiple computers that you need to configure this on.. then you'll have to manage the file and folder permissions on all the pc's. So if it's like a hand full of pc's that might actually still be doable, but anything more then I'd suggest to not store the data locally, but store it on the network. If you store it on the network, you only have to set the file and folder (also the sharing permissions) of the "private user folders" in question. If you were to take away admin rights of the other users on the pc's they should not be able to open another user's profile folder, making all the files in there "private", and just give the manager(s) admin rights and they should be able to access the files.
