Access to Programs Folder for Users
I need to give our Domain Users access to the Programs File folder (for x64 and x86). Some of our applications write data back to it's programs folder in Program File. We do no own the program, so we can not change the programming. What do I need to do,
though a GPO, to allow users to write data to any folder inside the Programs Folder?
I turned the virtualization on to allow the app to write data somewhere else, but it does not seem to work. I am not doing anything extra with the UAC though a GPO.

Do not allow domain users to entire Program Files folder tree. Do some research with Process Monitor and Process Explorer (from Sysinternals) to pinpoint the folders that are not accessible by user while using given application.

This would be fine for one or two users, maybe 10, but I need to do this on 400+ computers. Any thoughts on that?

I looked at the links, I am not sure what virtualization profiles has to do with my problem with an application.
Right now, we have several programs that will only work if the user is in the local Administrator group. We do not want this and need to find a solution to allow the program to run without the user being in the local Administrator group. I believe the virtualization
of the files and registry (when the program can not wright to a protected area) is the best solution, but it does not seem to be working. What do I need to do to get this running though a GPO?

Milos Puchta,
How would I use Process Explorer to pinpoint the folders that are no accessible by the user while using the application?

Bump.
I can't be the only person who has had this problem with an application wanting to write back to it's program folder. We have saveral Applications that do this and the GPO options for Windows 7 are not helping me in resolving this (unless I do not have them
set correctly).
