Access network Drive over a VPN
I have Windows XP Pro SP3 on which I connect to a corporate network using CISCO VPN client and can access shared folders on the remote server. I just received Windows 7 Utlimaite x64, I am using ShrewSoft VPN client and I am able to connect to the remote server using VPN. I can also ping the remote server by hostname when connected using VPN Somehow,I can not access a shared folder (I am sure I am passing correct credentials) (I am trying to mount shared folder on the remote server as a local volume) I am using map network fodler, specify path as \\servername\sharedfolder but somehow Windows keep looking for it forever.

Instead of hostname (servername) I tried with IPaddress of the remote server and it works now.

Hi, I am glad to know it works with IP Address. I think this issue may be related to Name Resolution since you can access the share with IP Address instead of the host name. Considering you are using a third-party VPN client and we have limited resources about it, if the issue persists or you want to perform some further researches, it is also recommended that you contact Shrew for help: Shrew Support Please Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. Thank you Nicholas, I voted your post as helpful. Overall I am very pleased with Windows 7 -- and I searched for a while and found that at that time Cisco did not had VPN client for X64 (I guess it it already realeased as beta) but I am happy with Shrew Soft.
