Access denied to some subfolders, and not other subfolders
I have a desktop computer running XP Pro and a laptop running XP Pro. The desktop has a folder Music which is shared including subfolders. The structure is as follows: \\Music\a-f\artist\cdname - in this case I have 20 artists with about 30 cd folders -- all of which I can access from my laptop -- then starting with the 21st artist, when I click on the folder I get 'Access Denied' message. This pattern is the same for other artist groupings g-n, p-s, t-z...Please advise how to get around this problem...Thank you!1 person got this answerI do too

On both machines: Create matching user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and the passwords assigned to each user account can be different; the accounts/passwords just need to exist and match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY SIMPLE ONES . If you wish a machine to boot directly to the Desktop (into one particular user's account) for convenience, you can do this: XP - Configure Windows to Automatically Login (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm If one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple File Sharing (Folder Options>View tab). On the shared resource, start at the top level folder and make sure you give Everyone (means all user accounts on the local system) full read/write access. Check the box to propagate the permissions to all the child folders/files.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
