Access denied shared printer between two Visa PCs
I have two PCs. One is running Windows Vista Home Basic SP2 32 bit. The other Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit. The Home Premium PC is a desktop with the printer attached. The Home Basic is a laptop trying to connect to the printer. I can share files between them no problem, but absolutely cannot connect to the shared printer. If I try to add it as a network printer I see the printer but get: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure that you have typed the name correctly, and that the printer is connected to the network. If I try to add it as a local printer with local port \\computername\\printername, I get: Access is denied. I have tried the following: Local port named \\computername\printername Enable Guest account on both computers Both computers on Private network with same workgroup name Network discovery ON for both computers Password Protected sharing OFF for both computers All firewalls turned offInstalled updated Vista printer drivers for both machines As I said, I can share files no problem in both directions. Even with read/write privileges. Any suggestions on why I can't connect to the shared printer? Brock
