I am using a microsoft home network working over a Linksys router. Some (not all)jpg and pdf files transferred over the network produce the Access denied error when trying to open, change name, copy, etc. I am not able to copy thesse files into a Breifcase on the remote computer which I use for backup. The original files are okay at the base computer; if I archive into a zip file I can unzip and open the files on the remote computer; if I copy to a zip drive and hand carry to the remote computer the files are okay. This may have started since I upgraded to SP3. Turning Norton off doesn't seem to help. I have downloaded and usedLockHunter which shows the files are not locked and doesn't do anything to help open them.OS - XP Pro with SP3. Security - Norton Internet Security - 20010. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and Adobe Phtoshop 6.0 but opening the jpg files with other programs and saving back does not help.Any ideas? I'm using the sneaker net now and given up on the local network.Bill

Well, I found my problem. After many attempts at unlocking files and cureing my registry etc. etc. I set the properties on each of the folders to allow sharing. After that briefcase worked and I can open files on the remote. Do I feel stupid: not really!
