Access Denied accessing a network share that is accessible elsewhere
Hi,I'm facing a weird issue in Windows Vista Business edition. A network share that can be accessed from windows XP, 2000 and 2003 is giving access denied message in Vista. In the security section, the share has special permission to Everyone with Read and list permission. If I modify the permission to read and execute it works fine.Any ideas why Vista would not allow a network share with that permission when other O/S would do?Regards,FF

Yes, based on my knowledge, either Read and Execute or Full Control permission is required to access the share folders. Meanwhile, Windows Vista has made some important changes to the way that file and printer sharing works. For detailed information, you can check the following article: File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope this helps!Sean Zhu - MSFT

Hello Sean,Thanks for your response. I've however gone through the article you have suggested, but no help. What is really interesting is that the share is accessible from CMD prompt but not from Windows Explorer.I've already logged a call with MS on this and interestingly even they are struggling to find an answer and its already been a week.Regards,FF
