I picked up a virus on the internet and now my computer directs me to insert my windows disk so I can fix the problem. Windows is directing me to insert a disk with a certain system file on it. Can't recall the exact system 32 file. Also any other type of booting is blocked because it runs through Windows.My question is what should I down load and can you direct me there. All responses considered.

If you can connect to the internet an online scan via eg symantec.com

r u able to get in to the windows through the safe mode?? then try system restore !!if any certain file is missing,then try repair ur windows using the CD

Thanks for your help. Unable to connect to internet or through safe mode. I'll check back tomorrow after work. Don't have cds. Mom gave me computer as gift.

I suggest that find internet connection somewhere or a PC that could connect to internet, then log on to following website:http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/nbrt.asp?lcid=1033&origin=defaultAnd download the tools and install it and then use tools to create bootable CD/DVD or Removable media.After you create tools go back to your PC and boot PC with the tools and see if you could resolve problem.This tools belong to Symantec NOT Microsoft. However, company is trusted Anti-Virus company (Manufacture of Norton).
