A thought: Sandbox user accounts?
I remember reading somewhere -- I think it was wikipedia (and if it was on the internet, it must be true) -- that Windows 7 would have support for mounting VirtualPC's virtual disk format and using them as normal hard drives. And of course, Windows already supports a certain level of virtualization through Virtual Store. So this got me thinking.. would it be possible for Microsoft to add the ability to create a "Sandbox Account"?Basically what seems to be a normal user account that you log in to, but with read-only access to the system, and any changes made (IE new settings, files downloaded, etc.) are stored on a virtual disk. Then when you log out, you could either save the changes for the next session, trash them entirely, or apply the changes to the actual system.I think this would be useful in a number of different situations, like people who test a lot of new/different programs and don't want to go through constant uninstalls/system restores/etc, or public computers where you don't want any permanant changes made, or even just people who are concerned about their computer security and don't want to risk making any changes without making sure they work first.I realize that a lot of what I'm describing can be done through 3rd-party programs already. I just wanted to hear what people thought about the idea of having it built into Windows.
