A shortcut created to desktop from Network Adapter connection does not work in Windows 8 as it does in previous versions of OS. I use this to enable/disable and view network status.. Also can not paste this into Body of question area.

I just created a shortcut on my desktop (Windows 8 Consumer Preview x64) to my wired Ethernet connection and it worked like a charm. Even able to pin it to the Start Screen.
