A separate sign in was required to connect to Outlook - MAPI Error in Office Communicator

Hello,
Recently i was able to solve AUTODISCOVER issue where free/busy information was not working in office communicator and also DG was not expanding so i published EXTERNAL URLs and it is working fine now.

Now i am facing another issue related to Outlook Integration Error. The error i am getting on communicator is

There was a problem connecting to Microsoft Office Outlook. A separate sign in was required to connect to Outlook, but the sign in dialog was canceled or closed, or your Exchange server may be unavailable. To establish the connection, sign out and then sign back in to Communicator.

When i take CONFIGURATION INFORMATION of Office Communicator, i get following results:

DG URL Internal;https://ocspool01.abc.com/GroupExpansion/Int/service.asmx;--;
DG URL External;https://ocspool01.abc.com/GroupExpansion/Ext/service.asmx;--;

MAPI Information;There was a problem connecting to Microsoft Office Outlook. A separate sign in was required to connect to Outlook, but the sign in dialog was canceled or closed, or your Exchange server may be unavailable. To establish the connection, sign out and then sign back in to Communicator.;MAPI Status Error;

Auto Update Download Started;--;--;
Auto Update Download Completed;--;--;
Last Auto Update Request;--;--;
Pairing State;Communicator cannot connect to your desk phone because the USB cable is not plugged in. Make sure that you connect the cable.;Enabled;

So the main error is :

MAPI Information;There was a problem connecting to Microsoft Office Outlook. A separate sign in was required to connect to Outlook, but the sign in dialog was canceled or closed, or your Exchange server may be unavailable. To establish the connection, sign out and then sign back in to Communicator.;MAPI Status Error;

Now tell me what to do. I have exchange services published via TMG. But i guess there is no OCS service published via TMG. Please help which service i am require to publish via TMG.

I am also unable to access URL https://ocspool01.abc.com/Abs/Int/Handler     it ask for password but not accepting password i have tried different users but it is not accepting passwords. and in the end it gives this error

Hi,Hasan,

I don't think it requires publish extra OCS service for outlook integration,they are integrated automatically if autodiscover works well.

Would you please check your configuration with these troubleshooting steps and see if it can help you fix your issue?

By the way,what are the versions of your Exchange server and outlook?

Hi,Hasan,

Sorry for responsing you late.

Have you fixed your issue?

I noticed that you state " This is only with external users who are not part of domain and accessing outside organization network." do you mean the error only happens to the external users who are not your domain users?If so that's right,the external users haven't permission to access your EWS service.

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

It seems random behaviour. Sometimes it is fixed and free/busy ifnormation works and sometimes it gave this error. Dont know how to troubleshoot and find out the root cause of this. Why it is giving this error sometimes and why not everytime?

Hi,Hansan,

Due to your description it maybe caused by network issue.

Have you check the network traffic and latency?You can use Microsoft Network Monitor to capture the network traffic.

You also can use wireshark or Lync logging tool to analyze it.

Sharon

Hi,

I am not a professional IT guy, but the same error was rectified in my system.

The thing is in my outlook i have to email accounts. One is my official email address in my name and the other one is in my team name, i,e i am working in finance department hence the other email id finance @example.com

Every time when i am opening my outlook it ask for password for both of these accounts. But we are not using the team mail id that is Finance@example.com hence i am just cancelling the login details for that account. This is the exact problem in my communicator. I deleted that finance email account and restarted my outlook as well as communicator it works fine. I am not getting any error now. My conversions are saved in my outlook conversion history folder.

Hope this also could be one of the important point in communicator synchronizing issues.

If you have configured 2 email accounts in your outlook make sure both of them are working fine.

If anything i mentioned is wrong please excuse.

Thanks
