When I boot my lap top up I get this message after singing on. "A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error Code: 0x80070002" I placed the windows xp home cd rom into my cd drive and nothing happens.How do I get my computer to work again?I had the same error, and there were tons of solutions on the web (including the one posted by Malkeleah: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310794) which may or may not have solved my problem. Turns out my hard drive is going bad, and the bad sectors caused the error by corrupting specific system files (another possibility is the corruption inadvertently caused a drive letter change during Windows XP setup after I reloaded my PC from scratch). Anyway, you may want to download a bootable diagnostic disk (assuming you can access another computer of course) and run a battery of tests on your hard drive.
