A Bit of trouble with Windows Update on Windows 7 RC1 - Error 80070570
I attempted to download some windows updates today and received the error above. The ol' 80070570. I did some research and found this link about the same error occurring in XP and Server 2003. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910359 I followed those steps and the error still occurs. I performed further research and didn't see any promising solutions. Any suggestions? The hardware I am using is an Asus G50Vt-x5. No modifications.

This seems like a bug in the 64 bit version using BitLocker encryption. Try the solution again at the kb but make sure you do exactly as shown while in root/admin and not just in user mode. Even if you authorized the user full admin still use Admin/root mode.

Thanks or the reply Green Arrow. I went through the steps again after logging in as local admin. I then re-attempted using Windows Update and received the same error. I'll reattempt this without BITS disabled and see how that goes. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Attempted some more trouble shooting today. I was finally able to get Win7 to update. I followed the KB articles instructions and stopped right after renaming the software distribution folder. I did not reregister the dll's. I then retried the update and found 3 updates where there had only been two. The two were the test updates and the 3rd was a nic card driver update. I selected them all. The nic card driver update worked while the two test updates are still failing. I'm wondering if it has to do with their test status. Thanks for the help and suggestions Green Arrow.
