AVAST Antivirus
bOOya! Avast Antivirus is compatible with WIN7! Threw several trojan and conhook viruses at it to see if it would protect WIN7..., caught each virus prior to download.Updates, however, must be done manually though....., but still:Props to Microsoft and Avast: BRING IT! :o)

FWIW, I had no problems with Avast running updates automatically - actually, the reverse was true. Avast was waking my computer to run updates even when the machine was disconnected from the internet and running on battery. I did, however, havetwo recurring problems: 1) it would hanga few percentshort of complete when running a full scan of an external pocketdrive, and 2) when calling up an Avast context menu from the desktop, the selected menu itemwould occasionally freeze on the screen (not the program - just the menu item). With the first issue, the drive(s) are clean and can be scanned with other programs. While realtime protection was good, I also found that Avast slowed startup times in Outlook 2007 by several seconds. BTW, I was running the most current release. Certainly a good program but there are some quirks and issues on some setups. There is no surprise on that front though since Windows 7 still is a RC. At this point I would say "mostly compatible" rather than just compatible....Stephen
