AV?
I have installed the full version of AVG 8. Maybe coincidence, but it seems things have slown down a bit. Is anyone using an AV solution, that doesn't seem to slow there system down?

Avast is working OK for me. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Avast Anti-Virus is XP and Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions), FREE, auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer.Strangely, Microsoft only recommends AVG 8.0, Norton, and Kaspersky for Windows 7, as approved manufacturers, etc.

The AV manufacturers that are currently listed only reflect a preliminary selection of what we can expect on release of the final product.Other AV products may or may not work on Windows 7 beta. Support for those is a matter of the respective manufacturers.Nils Kaczenski MVP Directory Services Hannover, Germany

I am not a Defender fan! I merely tolerate it, as it is part of theBeta OS. Turned it off in Vista, and I wouldn't install it in XP.. Malwarebytes, SpywareBlaster and Spybot Search & Destroy all seem to work well with Windows 7. And they match in well with Avast. Cheers.

In XP, (somecustomers' computers), I've foundDefender to slow it down. Uninstall Defender, and XP was back to normal speed, for the particular hardware. In Vista, and windows 7,Defender is part of the OS, so it cannot be deleted. You can stop it running, though The main problem with Defender, is that it does not find many problems, when a computer is infected. The owner is not notified of problems , but when you run other Anti-Spyware/Malware Programs, you soon find out what was wrong with the computer. MS just does not do enough work to keep it updated for what is out there in cyberspace. You get a feel for when a computer is infected, and that is what turned people against Defender, as it is no help in fixing problems.
