ATT INTERNET SECURITY SUITE POWERED BY MCAFEE WILL NOT UPDATE DAT FILES
I continually (every 8-10 days) get the warning that my computer is not protected - "The detection signature file is between 8-29 days old". I follow its instructions and tell it to "Fix" and nothing happens. I run McAfee Virtual Technician and it either says it can't fix the problem because of an "error" or it says the problem has been fixed but it never downloads the updated file. I go back to security center and it tells me my computer is still at risk.I have tried everything I can find but the only solution has been to totally remove the program from my computer and install it again.....every eight days.........McAfee can't seem to help me.1 person needs an answerI do too

Assuming that you do not have a trial version that keeps expiring, and considering that you have "tired everything" and McAfee cannot help you, it sounds as if uninstalling/reinstalling every 8 days is quite an inconvenience. Perhaps you should uninstall McAfee and install other security.

You may want to check with ATT first to be sure you have the same software. If so, make sure you follow McAfee's instructions for the removal of the software:
First, go to the McAfee Security Center (via the icon in your system tray) to DISABLE each of the individual McAfee components that you plan on removing. Next, go to Add/Remove Programs and remove components of McAfee Security Center. 1. Download the removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe 2. Click Save and save the file to any folder on your computer. 3. Navigate to the folder where the file is saved. 4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed. 5. Double-click MCPR.EXE to run the removal tool. 6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted. Bugbatter this information is helpful!.PATF13, I've had the same problem when I upgraded to McAfee. After the initial upgrade to the software I would have the same symptoms. And the only resolution from ATT support was to uninstall/reinstall. The uninstall/reintall merry-go-round was the same solution for McAfee support - and the last time I was routed to Mcafee support I was put on hold for over an hour. (I finally hung up) My guess is that some configurations of older versions of Windows were not tested with this version of Mcafee and they don't have a fix for this problem. I've decided to move on to some other security package.Good luckPeaceamgam
