ASUS EAH5770 DDI VERSION IN DXDIAG DEGRADES FROM 11 TO 10.1 ON REBOOT
This is the first time I've bought an Asus graphics card and after successful installation all seemed well. The demos of the new features unique to hardware based directx11 were finally unveiled. My joy was short lived however on reboot I was presented with a message upon running anything that requires directx11 that I did not have it...Strange Indeed DXDIAG confirmed on the first tab that I had directx11 however the display tab shows a DDI version of 10.1 naughty!! I took to Google as one does in the event of such things, and found a solution of sorts after some digging...I can make DXDIAG report the correct version of directx (DDI OF 11 AND NOT 10.1) by going to device manager and display adapters and update driver and browse my computer for drivers and let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer choosing have disk and pointing it to C:\ATI\Support\11-2_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF then clicking next makes it install the correct driver on my local hardisk and DXDIAG reports the correct ddi version and every Directx11 application is again happy that I have qualifying hardware to allow running directx11 software again. I think you will agree this is INDEED a windows 7 issue the driver works...when you tell windows what to use and where to find it--its just windows 7 seems to forget where the driver lives or so it would seem. I have an intel based system, and no for a fact this is happening on AMD systems as well (from Google research of the problem) I have an Intel i7 920 CPU running windows 7 Ultimate 32, KB975243 reported that it did not apply to my system for some reason. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your DDI is 11.0. The version reported in DxDiag is a bug/glitch. There was a fix for it about a year ago, but I don't remember much more. Just ignore it and eventually it will show correctly if you update your video driver regularly. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, this is a bug in Windows 7: A DirectX 11 device is displayed incorrectly as a DirectX 10.1 device in Performance Information and Tools in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2461631 André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? Thanks for the reply....But just to update you KB 2461631 led me to a download which only gave me a placeholder and not a file...the placeholder says "This is either a GDR, or a custom support package it will not be available via http://hotfix." Disappointing after having to request and fiddle with password protected and apparent untested hot fixes. My second try was the update to DXDIAG files, not applicaple to my system so fix 393860, and fix 424991 have not helped me. My system still forgets its DDI and goes back to 10.1 on restarting my computer...Anyone found a solution to this yet?

Contact the MS support and ask why the hotfix is unavailable. André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? Check my HowTo: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=150221

That's just not true Rick, Microsoft's statement is simply false, as you would know if this was happening to you. The functionality of any directx11 software is DISABLED when the DDI version is reported as 10.1 because the system thinks you dont have appropriate hardware. Yes I can re-install the driver via update driver, and continue without issue until I reboot, but to have to do this on every boot of my machine is simply NOT ON and its a bug and it needs fixing for the sake of my sanity!

I did experience it and used another utility to check whether DXDiag was telling the truth or not. The other utility, and I don't remember which one right now because that was over 1 year ago, told me it was DDI 11.0. I then went to the ATI forums and found the link to the MS fix and now all is well! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I had exactly the same problem with the same graphics card, and the hotfix didn't work for me either. But eventually I found the solution: Apparently, the ASUS software delivered with the card (GamerOSD and/or Smartdoctor) cause the problem. Uninstall these utilities and reinstall the AMD drivers. I hope this can still help you, or anyone else searching for this problem.
