APIPA Questions
Has anyone disabled Automatic Public IP Addressing on their DHCP network? If so Why and What were some benefits? Do you receive any error messages when the DHCP server cannot be contacted?

See http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2424708&SiteID=17 If you have central DHCP IP management and several redundant DHCP servers, then there is no benefits from APIPA. The APIPA-configured computer will not be allowed to communicate to outside nor other local computers, so APIPA doesn't help him in any way.Because DHCP servers are present and working in the network, the failure of DHCP must be caused by virus or bug or a misconfiguration of the computer in question. There is no benefit to allow them to use APIPA address for communications as they may try to disrupt network or other computers functions. Misconfigured computer shall remain silent against network until problem with DHCP resolved.
