APIPA Question
2 computers, one with Pro and other with Home Prem, through a wired router. The router log always shows blocked apipa addresses . I thought that a dhcp address was checked first and if gotten, the apipa addresses were not checked. Also there is a 20 second delay before the network icon shows network access. My netbook wireless is a lot faster ! Not really a big deal, but just wondering why. 2 different motherboards with different on board nics, updated drivers and clean win 7 install. Router is a Zyxel x-550 and since using wired, the addresses are always available. Any ideas or places I should check. Thanks Ken

Hi Ken,
Please try the following:
1. Boot the system to Safe Mode with networking and see how it works. If it works better this time, please also check the issue in Clean Boot Environment:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
2. Ensure the NIC is compatible with Windows 7 and update its driver.
To check the compatibility of this NIC, please go to Windows 7 Compatibility Center website.
3. Update the router’s firmware.
Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
