Because that would almost certainly violate the terms of the anti-trust settlement. One of the key issues/complaints was Microsoft's practice of bundling appsinto the OS, thereby providingMicrosoft with an unfair advantage.Whether that was ever really true is a different story - certainly was on some things but with others it always seemed to be a pretty weak excuse for bad software and poor business models. At the same time as they unbundle IE 8,WMP, Windows Mail, Photo Gallery, etc., don't bet on them bundlingin a free service. Of course, if you want, you will be able to download Microsoft Security Essentials as a free package - it just won't be preinstalled.So far I am hearing very positive things about MSE....Stephen
