AD Forest Preparation -- Failed with DsRoleGetPrimaryDomainInformation , ErrorCode=6BA
'm receiving the following error during Step 3 of the installation:
"Command execution failed: DsRoleGetPrimaryDomainInformation failed with error "6BA"."
Step
1 and Step 2 completed successfully. The installation is being performed on a DC in our root domain using domain administrator account
The
domain is at a Windows 2003 functional level.
I saw a similar post following ,which suggest to ensure the user is schema admin and domain admin. However, in my scenario , I am using domain Administrator account directly but still failed.

The DsRoleGetPrimaryDomainInformation function retrieves state data for the computer. This data includes the state of the directory service installation and domain data. If you have a child domain and root domain then what permissions do
you have for root domain and for child domain. I saw this error during my deployment in which i have given my self permissions as a member of domain admins and schema admins. please leave some time for the replication once you give permissions to your user
and the try again. It also happend with me that on domain controller it failed, but when i tried same command running from Lync servrer was successfull.
Hope above helps.

Are you running the Lync Prep AD steps directly on a domain controller holding the appropriate FSMO roles, or is it on some other machine (such as the target Lync server)? 32- or 64-bit DCs?

I am running the lync prep ad steps on lync server. I will try to run it on dc to see what happen.

Hi Jun,
Any update?
This issue may due to the Domain Controller is offline.
And it should be online during the Forest and Domain Preparation. Please confirm.
