ACER 5315 Laptop Battery life?
Hi, Just been given an Acer 5315 laptop. I bought a new re-chargeable battery and charging lead and charged as advised, run down then charged again. With 'normal' use, internet, games, etc. I'm only getting about 2 hrs usage (Win 7) before the PC prompts me to find alternative power or shut down. Surely the life should be much, much longer. It defeats the object of having a laptop and taking it somewhere without a power source and the battery lasting only 2 hrs? Surely it should be 4/5 hrs? Please advise, Cheerseaglet

I cannot tell whether 2hours is normal for your device, but I have seen many that have even 1 hr or alike (new!). also your noemal usage "games" do run out a battery quite quickly! battery life depends on many factors: *the amount of power stored in the batterys (is the new one the same amount of cells?) *the powersettings of you computer. In your start menu type "power" open "power options" and verify you are using "balanced" or even "power saver" to maximize the tiem the battery lasts *the bios (and other hardware) settings: allow as much devicdes as possibel to enter a lower power state *the display: turn down the luminosity of the display *the usage: chack with task maanger whetehr applications us a lot of cpu. avoid runnign cpu intensive applications or having (for example) many webbrowsers open. If these tips do not yield a batterylifetime that meets your expectation, you should contact your manufacturer (Acer) for more detailed info (they will for example now what the "normal" battery lifeime should be) or even RMA. According to these specs, you're getting exactly as advertised: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire5315/Aspire5315sp2.shtml Don't feel too bad; my Gateway M-6850fx doesn't do any better. I've done just about every tweak I can find to it (except create a DOS boot disk), and I get about the same lousy time. SC Tom

Thanks, I'll give it a try but if you look at SC Tom's answer the link only says 2 hrs. Hardly worth it, Cheers Bulwarkeaglet
