7 will not activate, find any updates, or run system assessment errors 0x80072EE2 and 80072EFE
My fresh install on 7 x64 build 7000 will not activate or find any updates. Activation gives error 0x80072EE2 and updates gives error I was able to activate with the phone system, but still no updates. Updates gives error code 80072EFE. Also when I tried to run the system rating, it went all the way, and I saw the box pop up saying the assessment was complete, but then it a window popped up that with an unspecified error, and told me it could not perform the system assessment. System is a Intel 965 board with an E6320, 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, 80GB WD IDE HDD and a 7900GTX.

It may be that the update servers are experiencing problems. see the following article for a description of that error code and some things you can do to resolve the problem. You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

To update and provide some more info. I tried to run the system assessment again. Again it finished, a box popped up that said assessment complete, but then over that a window came up saying "Cannot complete assessment. The assessment or other operation did not complete successfully. This is due to an error being reported from the operating system, driver, or other component. "

Hi, Did you enable Microsoft Update? If so, please disable Microsoft Update to test the problem. If you disabled Microsoft Update, please enable it to test the problem. Hope it helps.

Hi, the windows update website has to be put into the trusted sites options in the internet options settings, I had this same error and I added 2 addresses into the trusted sites location, the problem is I cannot remember what the sites were:-( I had to reinstall my copy of windows 7 and forgot to write it down., oh also when the addresses are added you have to uncheck (require server verification) any one here can tell me what the addresses are I'd greatly appreciate it, I found this fix on google but cant seem to find it now:-(
