64-bit upgrade
Ive recently bought a new Acer laptop with Windows Vista 32-bit preinstalled. Unfortunately, Acer then only provides you with the 32-bit upgrade-version of Windows 7, even though the laptop is capable of running the 64-bit version. Is it possible to get an upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, or do you have to buy the entire program then? Thanks!

Its different media, so you'll have to buy it. Keep in mind that you'll be doing a fresh install. MCSE, MCSA, MCDST

Hi, Hope it helps. As cdobbs mentioned, to install 64-bit Windows 7, you need a clean install. For more information, refer to: 32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions. As for the upgrade path, please refer to Windows 7 Upgrade Paths.Vivian Xing - MSFT
