After using a C&W 3G modem to connect to the internet i pulled the modem out of my computer forgetting to disconnect to the internet before doing so and ever since that happened my Hp Pavilion g6 takes longer then usual to boot to windows!!! Before this had happened my boot up time was between 60seconds to 80seconds, now it's taking over 5mins to start up and every time it shows the welcome screen and loads the start up items it has problems loading the network connection icon in the right corner of the start bar. Is there anyway to overcome this problem without having to restore my laptop PC to the original factory conditions?? Maybe a driver fix or re-installation??

Is there a way to freshly re-install all windows drivers without losing any personal data already on the PC?? I think if that were possible it would solve the problem!!

Hi, I suggest you can update your NIC driver to check the result. Meanwhile, you can also try the following: 1. Test the issue safe mode with networking You can refer to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode 2. Boot to Clean Boot mode 3. Hi Vincent, I updated all my network drivers on my pc and still the problem is there. Now it hangs on the windows boot up screen and gives me a black screen before the login screen!!! I made a system repair disc in preparation for the worst... I tried doing the clean boot but still it hanged on the windows boot up screen and gave a black screen before login. I tired of trying to locate the problem so i'm just going to make a full back up of all my documents on the notebook then re-format it back to factory setting then update the necessary drivers and install my programs again. Windows operating systems are just to complex to locate an error when there may be over 1000 causes. Thanks for all your help though Laurent.
