2nd Monitor stays black after being turned off by energy settings

Hello,

I've got the following problem. I'm using a notebook (MSI GE60-2PC) with a second monitor attached via VGA. When I'm not using it for some minutes, it is set to turn off the monitor(s). Now, when I move the mouse, the main monitor turns on again, and the second one, too but only to turn off again 1 second later. (well to be exact, it doesnt really turn off - it shows a black screen but stays on - not like the real standby mode)

I have to unplug the monitor for 30 seconds or so, then it works fine again. If I do it earlier it turns black right away again.

I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro with all latest updates and latest drivers for my Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M are installed (Although usually it's switched off and I'm using Intel HD graphics - also with latest drivers, of course). The HDMI port is not affected.

I'm basically assuming it is a Windows issue since I have a Kubuntu running on this very machine with no such problems.

I would be happy to hear suggestions on what to do.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hey Roger,

Thank you for the answer, indeed changing the display turn off time just one minute did the trick for me - strange but for now it works.

Best
