2gb Micro SD Card is write protected in XP.__
2gb Micro SD Card is write protected in XP. (Using Compaq NX6110 laptop, OS = XP SP3, USB MicroSD Reader/Writer, 2gb SD Card (not a SDHC Card)) The SD card is recognized by windows xp, shows up in "safely remove hardware" but it does not show up in MY Computer. It shows up in Device Manager under Disk Drives in Computer Management but not in the Removable Storage section. The disc drive is not formatted so that seems reasonable enough. The Card shows up in HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and shows the capacity of the card but when I try to format it by any method windows gives an error message saying "Device Media is write protected" The card will work on other computers. I have tried the usb / apple i-pod fix-it but to no avail. It just crashed my computer at restart and windows will not restart unless I select Last Known Good Configuration. Other types of mp3 player will connect to the computer and all usb ports are in working order. It seems to be a micro sd problem. No new software has been added since before the problem occurred. Please help, any thanks in advance.1 person needs an answerI do too
