2 Windows Folders by accident
HelloI had to do a clean install and during the setup, there was a systems folder of 100mb called the E drive the rest was the C drive. I chose the C drive to reformat and install XP but when it was all done the system folder became the C: and the active drive with became the E:.So I went back to boot from the installation CD and unpartitioned the 100mb, Good thing is the C: drive is now how it should be and there is no E drive. but there are 2 windows folders C:\ window and C:\Windows.0.How do I get rid of the second windows without having to reformat and install all over again?Thank you

HelloSince you mentioned that you were able to load the operating system on the new C drive ( Which was originally E drive) and also, partioned it properly. If the fresh installed operating system I.e., C:\ window boots properly you can delete C:\ windows.0. folder. Do disk cleanup and disk defrag to clean up the hard disk. Also, why there is C:\windows.0. is due to the reformat which was your previous operating system got shifted to the formated E drive which is currently C.There are multiple copies of operating systems on your pc and its abvious for the operating system to start from .0. extension for naming windows extensions.Hope this helpsblaze

Thanks for your reply.I found solution on the net to check which was the working windows folder by typing %windir% in the run command. It turns out the Windows.0 is the working one. so I deleted the other one and all is well. it freed up tons of space too.J
