2 NIC in Windows 7 Ultimate 64
So I have yet to find the answer to this question, I can't believe Win 7 would not be able to do this easily considering how simple it was in XP etc., but... My computer has two NIC, The cable modem goes into one, and the other heads out into a wireless router. Prior to Win 7 I just setup ICS and allowed the secondary connection to share the internet connection off the first and feed it into the wireless router. Win 7 claims the second NIC that goes into the router is a "public" network and won't share anything with it, and therefore I am stuck. What am I supposed to do to fix this? I've looked around online and there seem to be varying reports that this amazingly complex design was just not thought of when creating Win 7 and it won't work. Anyone have any ideas I can try?

ICS still works. The network awareness thing is an added security to protect you from accidently giving outsiders access to your file system. If you really want the additional network to be private, relax the security settings which prevent it by default. The network will then not be set to public. Here is a description of how to do that from a previous post in the forums. To do this on your local server , follow these steps:1. Start --> run --> MMC --> press enter2. In MMC console , from menu file select Add/Remove Snap-in3. Select Group Policy Object editor --> Press Add --> select Local computer --> press OK -->press OK4. Open Computer configration -->Windows Settings -->Security Settings -->select Network list manager policieson the right Side you will see options for :double click -->Unidentified networks Then you can select the option to consider the Unidentified networks as private and if user can change thelocation.I hope that is will help you and is clear . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hikmat Kanaan Amman-Jordan MCSEBill
