2Wire 2701 communication problem with Win7
Gateway DX4822 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz Intel 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection (Network Adapter) I have two 2Wire 2701 wireless modems. I also have a basic single line Motorola modem. When the Motorola modem is connected everything is fine. When I try to connect either 2Wire modems via ethernet, the green light on both the modem and computer fail to light up. Just for giggles, I hooked up the ethernet cable to the Motorola and to one of the 2Wires and I got the ethernet light on the front as well as the rear port to light. I had this problem in the beginning, but had a USB wireless network adapter for a laptop that was no longer in use. Everything was fine until a service pack installed and Microsoft no longer accepted unsigned drivers. Now the adapter is useless. I need to have wireless for all the fun little gadgets I have around my house (including other computers), but the computer I am having issues with needs to be connected to the network, otherwise I can't monitor what my children are doing. As of this moment no one in the house can do anything as long as the wireless modem is disconnected, this includes watching TV. I have contacted 2Wire, my ISP, and even some guy who is a ____ of a lot geekier than me when it comes to computers. No one has found a solution as no one has ever come across such a pickle. I have scanned the dark reaches of the search engines for any inkling of help to no avail. This is the first time I have ever posted a question online for computer help in nearly 15 years. If anyone has any idea what I can do about this (short of spending more money) then please reply. If I come up with a solution I will definitely post it for any future references.

Do you connect the Motorola modem and the 2Wire modem at the same time? If so, I suggest you remove the Motorola modem when connecting to the 2Wired modem. If the issue still occurs, please check the IPv4 configuration. Make sure the IP address is obtained automatically. If it does not help, temporary disable the firewall and antivirus. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
