260MB is not a sufficient size to EFI System Partition of native 4K disk

Microsoft has guided ESP in native 4K disk that's at least 260MB in the document,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825122.aspx
but install fail error code 0x8004242c ( VDS_E_VOLUME_TOO_SMALL ) that 260MB ESP partition automatically made by installer.

And with the same error code even "Refresh" and continue "Next".

I was able to complete the installation if ESP size is 300MB.

Hi,

The error code 0x8004242c ( VDS_E_VOLUME_TOO_SMALL ) means that the volume size is too small.

But, in normal condition, the minimum partition size is 260 MB.

I suggest we try using Diskpart "Clean All" Command to test it.

If the issue persists, please change a harddisk to narrow down the issue.

I think it may be caused by disk algorithms.

I'm using in Hyper-V Generation 2 VM the VHDX which I made with New-VHD -LogicalSectorSizeBytes 4KB -PhysicalSectorSizeBytes 4KB.
It is not necessary to perform "clean all" and all the sectors are already filled zero.
Is "normal condition" the 512e disk ?

I ran across this problem too. Windows Setup creates a 259MB ESP on the 4K VHDX. I partitioned the VHDX manually with a 260MB ESP as required.

Hello.

I received same error during Windows Server 2012 R2 installation in Hyper-V Gen2 VM with boot disk with 4k sectors. My workaround:
1) return to disk selection,
2) delete all partitions on boot disk created by setup;
3) select same disk again.
